Description

It's back!!!! Captured 4/4/09, at the semibeautiful Chino Planes of Fame Museum in the semibeautiful Chino Airport in semibeautiful Chino, California. Okay, it's been exactly two weeks since I visited the museum and snapped pictures of this WWII fighter, from virtually all angles, except from the top looking down, and I know this is a day that many of you have been eagerly waiting for since my first upload of this plane on 4/6/09. But, on the other hand, I also realize that this is a day that others among you have dreaded would come. Nevertheless, since I drove many miles -- several of which were bumper-to-bumper -- and took approximately 120 shots of this magnificent and storied aircraft, I feel it incumbent upon myself and morally responsible to post them, no matter the consequences. Anyway, I'll be posting them in collages of five, so I can display as many as possible, albeit not day-to-day, in the shortest number of presentations. A ZOOM will do your heart good. And, I have no idea what happened to the 20mm cannon, which should be included among the nacelle weapons display. Thankx for your interest, and have a scintillating Saturday.

I do like the artwork on the nose...and it's a girl? Louise? How do you tell if a plane is female or male? And I'm wondering what those interesting blue tubes with the holes in them are for. Are those gun barrels? And if so, why the extra holes in the sides, wouldn't the bullets go everywhere but forward? Sorry, I'm a girl who knows nothing about this sort of thing. Looks like you weren't the only one taking pictures of her, either. Excellent array of aeronautical anatomy in these shots, Harry!

This is my day Harry!!! My off days are the flower days which I like but as many of the girls think one plane looks like another...often that's how I feel about all those gorgeous blooms. So, you'll just have to waltz between two camps:-))) These photos are on a par with all your classic automobiles. Way to go my friend. A++++

The last time I was this close to a P38 tail section was in 1975 on a hillside in mid Wales. The wreckage of a P38 F5 lightning was strewn across the slopes of Plynlimon and we had a good look. Last year a complete P38 was re discovered partially covered by sand on a beach off Harlech North Wales. Thanks for the walk round
