Description
Holy Brook is, to be exact, a channel of the Kennet, leaving the main stream near the town of Theale, West of Reading.
It is six miles long and runs, for the most part, in a natural channel, though some parts were modified in mediaeval times to supply water to two water mills, Calcot Mill and Abbey Mill, both of which originally belonged to Reading Abbey.
This shot was taken just downstream of the site of the Abbey Mill and shows the point where the brook re-joins the Kennet just beyond the little footbridge.
