Description

Captured 4/18/09, around 10 AM, at the back entrance to our City Hall. These pics were taken at our annual Health Fair, but, unfortunately, these were the only things worth photographing at this year's event, which has really deteriorated in scope and entertainment over the years. Gone are the fun days of 5 and 10k walks, belly, hula and Mexican Hat dancers, fencing competitions (like with epees), closeup looks of fire engines and ambulances, MCs, contests, etc. Now all they have to offer are health screenings, massages, tons of medical literature, and free ballpoint pens and key rings. As for the balloons, I don't know if you can call these happy colors, which I usually associate with red, orange and yellow, but I think the POV, clarity, composition and lighting effects more than hold their own in these shots. Thankx for looking in, and have a meticulous Monday. Oh, and it's 100 degrees fahrenheit downtown so far today. 108F in my front patio.

Well, as far as colors go I wouldn't say these are unhappy, rather they're peaceful and serene, and maybe that's what they're going for. That's a beautiful shade of clear blue sky behind them, and you're right, POV, lighting, clarity and focus are stellar. Nice work Harry!

I agree with you ref POV, clarity, compo and lighting. Nice job. IMHO, since it is 100F downtown, these baloons are hot air baloons,...so to speak:-) Good job all around.

It got up to 75 here today and people complained about the "heat"!! I like these a lot, the light and the color against the sky are just right.

Excellent and colorful collage. My favorite is the third image, I think, it's the best POV.

well Sir Harry, it's a pleasure to actually walk here again. I can't comment on everything I missed (I'd be commenting for 3 weeks straight!), so I'm getting 'representative' samples. (I'll be offline as much as on for a while still, but at least I can get my feet wet again.) I loved these when you posted them, I love them now. You have a way of getting things bold and all-present, like you've stripped away the mental gauze and shown us the thing in itself, standing right in front of our eyes. This is a big bold balloon capture, you got them clumped and yet each one has clarity. The light surrounding is clear too, and your montage makes a journey which ends in the ground—like you started in the sky & then landed in the last shot. Love the montage. (How do you keep it under the 512 kb limit, with all these montages? I bet you have to make sacrifices, since each image has to be under 150kb. You manage it somehow.) Like a big photographic balloon party.
