Description

About 50,000 years ago a nickel-iron meteorite about 54 yards (50 m) across smacked into what is now Arizona. Out by Winslow there is a hole in the ground 4,000 feet (1,200 m) wide and 570 feet (170 m) deep. Scientists love to study it, the moon astronauts came out to train there, and Hollywood loves to film there.

Good stuff, bud! There's a much smaller one just outside Odessa, TX; kinda disappointing, really, but the body was much smaller, too.... I have a lovely nickel-iron meteorite that's supposed to be from this fall...love to just handle it and think where it came from!

Amazing shot, my friend. Great to look at. Slightly worrying when you think that we are 'thinning' our atmosphere now! And Meteors burn up in the Atmos! Loss Atmos! Bigger Meteors get through! GULP! Brilliant shjot. Love to see it! And by the way, NO! Ha! Ha! Rob.
