Description

this is in arch nation park by Moab. Ut. taken on 3/28/09. I had to stop my hike to the big arch with richardphot so I took a lot of photos of this mountion with a hole in it. I took a lot of photos of this from diff places on my way back to the car. My knees could not make it I can go up hill but going down was tghe killer lol. I made it back ok. I was not disspointed at all. I had a chance to get the details of the land my me. It kind of like stopping to smell the roses or flowers. Take in what nature have for you and if you can get macros shots of nature. It opens up a new world to you and you see a lot of stuff then. but time is against a lot of this slow pace life style. Here it reminds me of Vincent Van Gogh and his style of painting here. I post more of this mountian as time goes on thanks for looking and comment and votes. only post work is turing the image upright and resize

Very nice shot of nature's bountiful beauty. Much contrasting elements here, too. The foreground grasses are the painter's brushes.

Cool DOF showing the hole in that awestone stone structure, and vivid stratification of the foreground rock wall in this neat shot, Jock. I have trouble with my knees also. Arthritis, you know.

Wonderful. I know what you mean about downhill and knees. You've got the right attitude to take in what you can.

I love this shot! The softness of the colors and the upward view is awesome. You and I have a different problem but sort of the same. I can go uphill only with many stops and care. If I am to fall, it will be when I am going up. Coming down, I'm more like the mountain goat and I have a certain way of keeping my hips and lower back locked and my feet well spaced - I never fall when I'm coming down. :-)

Hi Jock, that's a real great shot, I already saw this picture somewhere in the WWW, it was just nearer. Yours is looking more complex, can you imagine that before thousands of years these holes have been all formed from the water, it's really fantastic to see this thousants of years later. +) Wish you a great sunday my friend, Ute

It has a elephantine look to it Jocko, the trunk is there and the torso. Lol. Looks like it was some hike to get up there, a bit more than I could handle anyhow. I'm like you I can go up not to bad but coming down is a killer on my back and knees. Excellent capture. Bravo!!!!!
