Description
A little about the Bon Homme Richard. She was decommissioned in 1947, but reactivated in 1951. Here two of her A-4s heading for Hanoi are attacked by a lone MiG-21.
CVA-31 USS Bon Homme Richard (1951-1970)
Class: Essex
In 1951-1952 she made two tours to the Korean coast and flew many raids against North Korean targets.
In 1953-1955 she got major conversion to equip her to operate high-performance jet aircraft.
In Summer 1964 she participated in Tonkin Gulf Incident.
During 1965-1970 she deployed on five Southeast Asia combat tours for Vietnam War.
She was decommissioned in July 1971.

Ive always loved the Navy and as a child would go down to Brooklyn Navy Yard to visit the USS Saratoga CV-80 when ever she was in port. Excellent work of History art and I will look up the Bon Homme Richard first thing. Bravo!
