Description

This one took an entire week to finish in XaraXtreme. I had created a background for it but I like it best with this simple one. *** Friday was Brian's and my 26th wedding anniversary. Still amazed that he still loves me so much. No one else but my mother does :) I wanted to do something completely different for our dinner and decided to try sushi and sake for the first time. Victoria, next door, and Mai (from china) both said I would love it. Let me tell you right now that I will never, ever eat sushi again. After 4 pieces I felt nauseous to my stomach just looking at it. Now, I knew that I might not like it but I thought that you could get sushi without raw fish (which is sashimi). All my sushi was raw except for the cooked eel (gag...yes, I tried it) and the crab filling in the caterpillar roll. I love wakami seaweed so I thought I'd like the Nori in the caterpillar rolls but it was so fishy tasting (gag again). I suppose it doesn't help that I'm food sensitive to tuna and iodine and not suppose to eat any fish at all (because I was never tested for any others). And the wasabi...eek. Just the tiniest bit was enough to set your mouth on fire. And the pickled ginger...argh! I put an entire piece in my mouth and tried my darndest to chew and swallow it. I had to remove it to my plate. The sake was excellent but we got Kome Kome (think that was what it was called). Much like a Riesling. I expected sake to be like a whiskey. I make miso soup at home so I thought I'd like their miso soup. Ummm...not. It tasted fishy. What with all the fish??? But this is how I am. I want to try different things before I leave this Earth. I had escargo a few years back, even though the thought of eating a crawling, sandy, mucus membrane turns me off. It was good but I won't ever have it again. I still need to try an oyster someday....maybe, lol. *** I want to say thank you to all the wonderful friends I have here that I feel so fondly of. You've made me feel like a part of this community and always made me feel welcomed. Thank you. I am working many more hours this summer. I will not be here very much...less than I already am. I will not have the time to view people's work or comment. You can remove me from your favorite list...I understand. I just want everyone to know that I did and do appreciate everyone of you that has touched my life. Group hug! Nancy

Very lovely render. I have some on my backyard fence that look just like these--or will later on. Congratulations on your 26th anniversary. No small accomplishment that. I lived a year in Korea and two in Japan and I never learned to like sushi--and I don't ever intend to, either! Sorry your anniversary meal proved so--so--um--distasteful.

A delicate and very lovely artwork. And congrats on your 26th! Your adventure with sushi was very funny. I can barely look at it without gagging, let alone eating it. I'm sure you and your hubby had some good laughter over it all. CC

Nice drawing and fantastic colours. I think another background would have helped the image better. Congratulations on your 26th anniversary. Are you saying that your husband is like your mother? 8-) I have never tried sushi but, I don't think I'll like it. I'm a carnivore. I prefer raw meat than raw fish.

The flowers are gorgeous Nancy.... as far as wanting to try new foods, I suggest to stay away from tofu... I tried that for the first time this year - nasty! It tastes like cardboard. Prime Rib and Champagne - that's my suggestion for anniversaries. I don't like spinach that comes from a can, but if you can find spinach bread - that tastes good. YOU HAVE BEEN FAVORITIZED!!! - OH, And don't ask me to delete you again - lol You're stuck in my favorites weather you like it or not - lol

LOL! That was some interesting anniversary dinner. I have the same type of allergy, but can eat most fish... sparingly. Only once a week at most. I loved your reactions. You either hate it or love it. The wasabi is to add a little spice to life... a little goes a long ways. ;o) I love the story and this is an elegant work of art. I applaud your efforts on the dinner and this wonderful creation presented today. :o)

First of all congratulation to you good fortune in you life!!!! Reading your notes on Sushi made me smile. Either you had very bad sushi or it's really not your thing. I love it! Have it at least one a month. Sitting in those Sushi fast food restaurants and watching all those goodies on the converbelt passing by. Do be careful with the Wasabi, though. You flowers are brilliant, the colours a so outstanding!!! Wish you all will come reality!!

I just love what you're doing with photos and vectors, really nice. You are naturally brave - try anything once! Don't give up. Who knows, maybe next time you'll love it. I'll tell the short version of the story of my friend Jack from Albuquerque, on a business trip to China. The client took him to the finest fish restaurant in Shanghai and didn't know he absolutely hates fish. The chef was insulted he didn't like it, and instead made him a special dish, just for Jack - snake!
