Description

My current book cover assignment, for the YA fantasy BEYOND THE WIZARD'S THRESHOLD, required that I make a heavily carved wizard's door. On the one hand, it's my favorite kind of weird architectural rendering. On the other hand, I haven't done a fantasy cover before, not had I done a weird, magical carved door and try to make it somewhat threatening and looming. The door center is a displaced mesh, and all the rest uses Vray displacement. Normally, I wouldn't post a WIP, but I was so very pleased with this door. It won't be seen is quite as much detail in the scene, so I wanted to post just the door. To show off lol.
