I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Your words cut through my heart - and I cry for you my friend. Only one row of footprints, with a second row dissappering along the way...

Very, very nicely written. I can only imagine. Painful. Wonderful photo to illustrate your words. Good arch by the way...just for a little cheer:)

Superb work. There is the ideal and it wears away until we get to the real. The shock wears off and slowly that initial question of why becomes less urgent. We learn the answers to a very different version of the question why as time goes by. One that moves us higher, and into a better future. A process of many years.

Your words are so sad... wonderful photo!!!

Have you a limp Carin? There looks to be a slight drag on the right foot. Foot prints in the sand should always be in twos or more, sadness is around if there is only one set. By the tone of your words sadness is indeed around, I hope it goes away pretty soon. Excellent image, profound words. Gentle hugs.

Poignant narrative to accompany this marvelously lit and textured image, Carin! There will always be conflict and war as long as there is life on earth. And I'm not just talking about humanity.

Your capture enhances the very sad thoughts of your poem. Very well put together and remember that when one door shuts another opens. Take care.
