Description
More Clematis.
The clematis vine flowers in the backyard are losing their petals. Notice the pistils(?) begin a spiral pattern. In a little while, they will form a hollow globe shape while still in spiral attitude - oh me, tough to describe. Take a globe shaped cage (vertical bars only), and twist the top a quarter turn.
Not certain, but perhaps all this is to make the seed case roll once it drops; a way of spreading seeds - concept cf. tumbleweeds (Russian thistle).
Different.
Please see my two earlier uploads of these magnificent flowers in full bloom, starting on April 16th.
