Description
Matera, Basilicate, south of Italy.
Many houses are partly carved in "tufo" rocks and they call this city the "Sassi", that means stones in italian.
This old troglodytic site is since 1993 in the UNESCO lists. It is now partly renovated but, when you visit it for example in october, it is strange to walk alone in the streets...
