Description

I am pretty sure this is a "California Slender Salamander". I was lifting some stones yesterday looking to see what might be around to get shots of and 4 of these little guys were there. This one is really small. Just over an Inch in length (no bigger than a crane fly). Very cute little amphibians. This one is also Lung less and absorbs air through its skin. Anyway, placed him on a leaf from the Lemon tree and he posed for just long enough to snap off 2 pics in this pose. Luckily one shot had his head in good focus, the other most of his body. So I edited both photos together for a sharper image. They are all back under their stone now and hope they hang around that spot for a while so I can watch them grow over time. They can get to about 3" I believe. Thanks for looking and all the kind comments on my last upload. FULL SIZE for a nice look. Bruce ISO 200, 1/250, f/6.3.
