Description

HMS Surprise is a modern tall ship built at Lunenberg, Nova Scotia in 1970. It is moored on the pier in downtown San Diego, CA and is part of the Museum of Naval History. The design is based on the original 18th century Admirality drawings. She is a replica of a sixth-rate (have no clue what that means) frigate built in 1757. HMS Surprise operated as a sail training vessel in the 1980s and 1990s. This picture was taken on 16 April 2009. Thank you for viewing and commenting and any favs, Sig...

Tall ships never stop amazing me. I adore them and their majesty. Stellar capture and most attractive with the ship behind it.

Can you imagine sailing on something like this? The sounds must be amazing. All that creaking wood, and the wind humming through the ropes. You've got my imagination going, my friend!
