Description
Corny title, but these are some great eggs.
We picked them up at Henscratch Farms this past weekend and they really are those colors. No dyes - they aren't Easter eggs. They come from a variety of chickens ranging from Chile to Rhode Island. They stay fresh outside the refrigerator for weeks and taste so much better than your grocery-store-bought egg. I wish there was a local farm where I could get eggs like this all of the time.

Would that be the Araucana chicken? My father used to raise them, and I gathered those colorful eggs as a child. They are supposed to be lower in cholesterol, too. Great shot.

No eggs-cuse for this eggs-cursion into eggs-treme close-ups, but what an eggs-uberant eggs-travaganza ! Eggs-traordinary capture Kort ! ~Cheers~

I recently heard of a small local chicken ranch that has something similar but they are limited on the eggs they sell and most go to market where they get a good, reliable sale. I used to buy all my eggs from "the egg lady" in my town. She supplied the whole town with fresh eggs from her "ranch" and I know how wonderful fresh eggs can be.

It's really cool.

Yes I agree about the taste of eggs. In Costa Rica we differentiate eggs from hens with or without roosters. "Married" eggs taste so much better.

nice light and colours...cool pov.

the hen must have been in an artistic mood, Kort!

Most eggs you get in the stores are old because it can take 3 months before they get to the stores. This is info from someone up North in Canada that has a chicken, Egg farm.He posted years ago on the times and what all happens before you see the eggs and talked about how you can tell the fresher ones by the way the shell breaks etc.

Oh man ... I have a friend who used to keep chickens. I would bring her empty egg cartons and she would bring me back farm-fresh eggs. All different colors, as you say. Fantastic! When she gave up her chicken enterprise and I had to go back to store-bought eggs, I was so disappointed. I'm still not over it! LOL! This is a great shot. I can taste them from here. Thank you!
