Description
Another view from Thomas Hardy country. Clavell Tower was originally built as an observatory and folly. It was in imminent danger of falling off the cliff until a local trust was formed to save it. The whole tower has now been rebuilt 25m inland. It is now fully furnished and has room for two people.

I photo and composition I read about this in the paper. I wonder if in a few years they will have to move it back again?

Fred The whole cliff is made up of unstable clays and oil rich shales and I have noticed some major slips since my last visit here so you may very well have a point.

Great photo. Love the architecture. Would be interesting to see how they laid out the rooms and stairs inside. So glad they were able to save it after all the damage done by fire and shifting ground.

25 metres isn't a great distance to try and save something from falling over the cliff, I would have thought maybe 75 at the very least. I would however love to live in this beautiful building, especially if there is access to the roof area. Excellent capture. Bravo!!!!!
