Description

This is the second in what is becoming a series of pictures devoted to a specific creature. In my last picture (The Nursery) I showed the hive where these creatures are bred. This second picture depicts the rare occasion when these creatures must migrate. Normally they move about very slowly on small "legs", but in some rare cases they are forced to move relatively quickly, as seen here, when drought has come. The legs grow when the need arises, and when they are not needed anymore they are discarded. There are some species, however, who also grow legs, but in these species it isn't for migration but to reach the place where they mate. Here, after they reach their destination, there are fields of discarded legs. These, in turn, are gathered by the peoples living near by and are considered a delicacy. Thanks for looking!

These plants that you create are awesome ! They would fit perfectly in one of those Star Trek TOS where they visit strange new planets... Great work !

Very neat - outstanding render quality. The critter reminds me a bit of that old Tribble Glommer from the old Star Trek animateds.

Very very cool, kind of like a Triffod in many ways from the old classic BBC film !, May be your next render try modeling a type of head to the plant that secretes a venom to paralyze the next victims !Just a wild suggestion.

Very cool alien life-forms! I did tons of similar kind of things with Vue 4 when it came out. You have a real flair for it. Keep the tales coming! I do not for an instant, believe the 'peoples' mentioned gathering legs look like us! Now you set the bar to show them, I hope!

What a great concept and an excellent render! Disposable legs, maybe even PETA would approve of that ... no wait, these are plants (or plantish, I guess), so would that be Plant Amnesty people?
