Description

In the Civil War here in the U.S. they had young boys at war too. Many countries have the same but each one is in diff times and diff places. They fight and die too. I could go into some history of diff countries but here you see it is 1860 to 1865 in the U.S.A. Many people think it was to free the slaves but it was not the main reason . It was about state rights and the riches of the North and South had. North had the factories and the South had the raw produces like sugar and cotton to name a few. Yes; New York city had a roit when the war started and 1000 blacks dies there for the roiters thought it was about freeing the slaves. The new papers reported stuff that feed all this to happen. Just like today ; nothing changes. thanks for looking and comments and votes. I do have a photo of the tattoo of before it was coverd up with the rose but I can not find it now lol I look for it and post it later. I did not put violance on for no one got hurt here it all a reenactment

Excellent capture Jocko, we don't have anything like this near where I live but we do get 1940's and 50's re-enactments. We have one coming up at the end of this month that Alan(artaddict2) and I will be going to, and its at the Steam Railway as well. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

Another cool pic of gunners serving their canon, Jock. Boys served in oth the Northern and Southern militaries during the Civil War. Richard gives a neat description of the importance of the slavery issue to the Civil War. State's rights were so entwined with the issues of slavery that Southerners saw any encroachment on one as an attack on the other. (Abolitionist John Brown's raid on the arsenal at Harper's Ferry, Virginia did not help any in 1859.) The Republicans in 1860-61 said that it was up to the states to decide what to do about slavery, hence state's rights would not be violated. Southerners did not see it that way. The difference can be seen in Southerners like Jocko talking about state's rights and The War Between The States while Northerners and federally minded folks talk about saving the Union, freeing the slaves and a Civil War.

Nice capture, and you're right that there's a long history of children in military service. Would you believe I've never been to a civil war re-enactment? I've been to an unbelievable number of medieval re-enactments and renaissance fairs, but no Civil War. Nice to see some of what it's like at one.
