Description
I had the chance to try out a hired 180mm Cannon macro lens the expensive one, most impressive, this shot was taken hand held and it was quite windy, needless to say I had some dud ones too.
If any one knows the name of this critter I would like to know.

I looked in Michael Chinery..Complete British Insects. It is Rhingia campestris...and it says "The prominent snout and orange abdomen witha black line on each edge distinguish this fly from all others.... The larvae breed in dung especially in cowpats." What a great shot!!
