Description

This one I took this at the Biltmore estate in Ashville,North Carolina, it was part of a demonstration showing what life was like back in the 1890's what it was like to live and work on the estate, it was fun to discover the history of the area, and the families that lived there. And to not only enjoy the beauty of the house and gardens but to also learn about the crafts, farmyards, and see some of the antique farm equipment. The poem about butter was hanging outside the barn area where the display was held, try reading it through without messing up, lol good luck. More to come. Let me Entertain you thumb_1878088.jpg

Growing up on the farm I had to learn to churn butter, canning all those things my grandmother did I can do:-) This is a great reminder of that time and a superb image Lynell!

Reading the convoluted poem didn't exactly do my current ailment much good, but I suppose it's butter than nothing. Terrific old home town photo composition, Lynell! Looks more like the late 1890s than 1950.

I've churned my share of butter, thank you. :-) An old woman I used to visit did canning and churning rather than buy goods. She was as old as the antique churn she used. Takes a long time but its so good made fresh. Fun shot.
