Je länger man malt, desto mehr ist man Lehrling The longer you paint the more you are an apprentice.
Bele Bachem
Brief introduction: SaintFox is
-a woman born 1962 at the north sea coast of Germany.
-moved to the german midwest in 1996
-to a small town that offers a lot of medieval inspiration
-has at least two souls
...and about the nick: It's a mixture of my haircolor and a tattooed fox cub that I wear and that looks so saintly as a vegetarian. As long as I can think I enjoyed being creative - and I always loved learning something new! As I had my first look here I so much wanted to do images like the ones I saw in the gallery. But it took me several years to be brave enough to post my first image here. After all I do not understand anymore what made me hesitate so long... I'm a professional artist/illustrator, not at least because of the permanent encouragement of the "Captain of my heart", he's my muse, my secretary, my "wonderwall" against those things that are able to disturb creative processes so easily. Most of my work is published by a german gallery in Gelsenkirchen and available at my own homepage, too. In late 2005 I wask asked for my first collaborated works and so I finally found a second profession in doing my own characters and textures what enables me to give my images even more personal style.
Whenever I start to work on something new - especially when working with characters - there is a moment when the bundle of polygons and pixels suddenly seems to look at me from the other side of the monitor, it's the moment when my creations get personality. This is, at least, what I like to "transport" with my products: artist tools that are able to inspire the people that work with them because they have a kind of "virtual soul".
A woman under influence
Major influences on my work come from other admired artists and music. Some of my favorites: Jan Vermeer van Delft James Jaques Tissot Rembrandt van Rijn Hajime Sorayama Olivia De Berardinis Marcus Gray Herb Ritts Helmut Newton Alberto Vargas Ricky Carralero Gerald Brom ...and, regarding the feelings that I have when doing my characters: Dr. Viktor Frankenstein! Music: Too much to count, alternative and classics preferred but sometimes it has to be soul or jazz, too. The second large influence are people I met here: They comment on my images and help me to enhance them, they share their knowledge and finally some of them decided to involve me in their projects. For me (as I grew up in the before-internet-age) it's still some kind of miracle that people are able to work together independent of where they live.
...and, before I forget, the strongest influence during the last years came from some lines I read about 15 years ago:
Beauty is an experience, nothing else. It is not a fixed pattern or an arrangement of features. It is something felt, a glow or a communicated sense of fineness. What ails us is that our sense of beauty is so bruised and blunted, we miss all the best.
D.H. Lawrence

Close... very close... the red hair is what I was expecting. My hair is brown, but my closest three friends in school and who I've known all their lives (one has past on) had red hair. I pictured a flurtatious Ann Margarette, long bright red hair... braw strap hanging off the shoulder, tie top and tie bikini bottem... so you were close... you went for the school teacher red head, while I was hoping for the flamboyant, party til you drop type.. Still, I love it.... I also forgot to mention, for some reason I picture people as numbers.... all numbers/colors have certain characteristics like the zodiac signs.... with that in mind, you did perfect on the #4 because the top of the four can be open or closed outgoing of kept to themselves... One of my friends, I pictured as a 5... He's the one that's gone. Ok, this book is over now - LOL YOU HAVE BEEN FAVORITIZED!!!

I love the technical details..I was wondering how you got the pearls to hang just right on her back, since I know you did not paint them in (that is always my answer to a technical problem;-), 4 seems like a very balanced, complete number so the confident and not flashy Miss Lotta seems exactly right for this..and the shoes are the one item that is a little more playful and sexy, to balance all the cool charm above! (And that is such a good texture map on Lotta, you can really see the details in the large version!)
