Nice idea. As a black and white image your alien figures match the values of the city too closely and so they almost disappear. Try putting more light on them so that they appear in the foreground more or go darker with them so they come across as an angry dark spidery cloud of evil eating the city below. Perhaps some closer to camera as well. We will still see enough of the city to know where it is. It's your aliens that are most important.
