Description

This is the longest render involving 3 sphere primitives in Carrara that I know of. It completely froze when it finished rendering so I had to do a screen grab instead of saving the image in the expected manner I was hoping for. It really got wonky after task manager showed the page file memory going above 1.15GB. But this is 5.1 I'm using here, who knows what kind of bugs have been fixed since. At least you can see the stats in the screen grab. Ridiculous, aren't they? Even the rays went negative after exceeding some limit in the positive direction and flipping a bit or who knows what. 84 Hours, 3 minutes, and 29 seconds. AMD Athlon 2900XP, would probably not be so bad on a more modern multi-core CPU.

I went back over some things, and discovered that batch render seems to have a workaround for too much memory usage which seems to be what tied up this render. If you render with the batch method and pause it when memory usage gets too high (via the task manager) then it frees up some of the memory when restarting. Worth making a note if you're doing complex mats or render settings.
