Description

Not sure if this is how Spitfires acquired their name, but just before the engines are started they need to be primed. If they get a bit more fuel than they need, the result is often a few flares of flame as the vapour is ignited. I just happened to be shooting the nose when this all happened. - Hope you like it. For those who saw my earlier posts the aircraft is a Supermarine Spitfire Mark IX.

Absolutely great! Trying to get a shot like this can make you crazy. Much easier to get lucky - lol.

Nop! Perfectly natural! With an engine of the the Spitfire has, it takes a mighty effort to start and when it does...... Brilliant capture! I'd kill for one of those shots! Rob.

A terrific photo..(the Spitfire got it's name another way).. a great one for the study wall!! You have an excellent series of photographs on display here, and you have a great eye for the local landscape and making something special out of it.. really enjoyed viewing your gallery.
