I thought it was J.R.R. Tolkien meets Peter F. Hamilton, but hey, yours works better. I like the concept, but do you really think that hobbits have to potential to discover biomorphic furniture and housing?

Well, there are some amazing things being done with cob these days, which is a traditional building material which would certainly be available to hobbits. The biggest problem would be waterproofing, which would also be a problem in a traditional hobbit hole; so yes, I think an especially imaginitive hobbit (most likely a Took) could come up with something like this.
