Description

Caption said everything. His name is Achankunj. He is the captain of Jesus boat Club who will be rowing this boat in the comming snake boat race. They won the last race as well as holds the record for two hatrics. Behind him you can see a person holding a tool with which he will give rythem for the oarsman. The perspective give a wrong impression about lengh of the boat, but from the size of the men standing behind you can make out its length. History: Story of deceit- continuation. Panic striken Raja of Kayamkulam sent a spy to chempakasseri to learn the secret behind the new war vesell of his opponent. Like in most spy story, this guy too was very handsom. Rest is like in any spy story, through attracting his daughter he took lessons from the Asari. The moment he thought he learned everything, he vanished. The news reached at Chempakasseri Palace and the Asari was imprisoned. It was only on next battle that the Chembakasseri Raja understood how the Asari tricked the spy.The defective snake boats of Kayamkulam become a trap for them. Cbk. Raja won the battle.Asari was well rewarded for his bravery. Their are few more interesting boats. As I told you earlier, Alleppey being surrounded by large water bodies and adjacent land suitable for agriculture, frequent war between the Rajas for the superiority over water ways, narrow canals criss crossing, shalow inland waters , all such factors influenced the the structure, size and shape of these naval vessels. Since war boats were supposed to carry as many as crew as possible through the shalow waters and through narrow canals as silent as possible yet capable to pick up speed for an ambush and capable of hiding under the bushes along the banks, can you name any other boat that meets all these requirements other than a snake boat. Tomorrow about other war vesells of Alleppey. Thank you every one for your comments and to those who have favorited me.

I would think this boat would leave the men exposed to danger - no sides to protect them. But perhaps speed is the weapon that protects these men? I did not comment on you last post and may I now say I loved seeing your mother take charge of the coconut. I can't get one open with a hammer and a chisel!
