Description

It's about mid morning at the Wallac's home and Duesa has been teaching Norika how to do laundry. Duesa (looking over at Norika): Wow! that was a lot of clothes to wash, do you remember how many we did? Norika (holding the Jyune designed top): I think it was 6 loads that we did. Thank you again for teaching me how to use the machines. I would have never figured it out without your help. Duesa (laughing): Not a problem, Nori. That's what friends are for. They make the most tedious job seem to go a lot faster. Norika: Duesa, have you noticed the sky this morning? It seems to have a different colour, almost brownish yellow. It doesn't look too nice. Duesa: Yeah! I noticed it. It seems really bad today. It started turning this colour ever since that new factory set up over in the next town. I don't know what the make, but it seems that they don't care about the stuff they put in the air. Norika (twirling the top on her fingers): Do you know anyone who works there? Maybe they could tell us what they make. Duesa (trying to snatch the top from Norika): I can't think of anyone who works there, but I'll ask around. Give me that top, Nori, we've got to finish up this last bit of laundry and then we can maybe go out to the hot tub and relax. Norika (jerking the top away): that sounds so good right now. Duesa? Why do the humans spend so much time cleaning clothes and themselves. It seems that everyone is so pre-occupied with staying clean and smelling just right or at least not smelling bad. Why is that? Duesa: hmmmm, you do ask some of the most interesting questions, Nori. The answer is hidden somewhat in history and how mankind has evolved or adapted to the world. And, for that matter how the world, especially the microbial world has changed over the decades. you understand the use of perfumes, right? Norika: yes I do, Duesa. It makes the women smell like flowers or spices and they use it to attrack a man, right? Duesa (grinning): right! Well, one thing about perfumes and other pleasant scents, is that you don't want any other scents or odors interferring with them. So there came the time when there was a need to remove the other odors or at least suppress them so the perfumes would be more effective and it evolved from there. Now there is a pre-occupation with staying clean and looking just right so the woman can attract the man and the man attract the woman. And the advertisers for the cleaning products, soaps and shampoos as well as the underarm procucts and other very personal cleansing product, work to make a person feel inadequate or even subhuman if they don't clean themselves with a certain brand of soap and use the right mouthwash and so on and on and on. Are you going to let me have that top so I can put it away? (trying to snatch the top again) Norika (laughing and backing up quickly); I will, but you've got to get it first. Duesa: No fair using your wings or any Wilde Magic, okay? Norika: okay... (skipping lightly back away from Duesa) but you've got to catch me first... Duesa: Oooooh! come back here... Thank you all for the wonderful comments and faves! I really appreciate them. You inspire me to keep it going. I hope that everyone has a great Tuesday Mike

talking about supressing odors, brings to my mind a book ive read the other day about curry and other spices, when imported first it was in general taken to supress the smell of the rotten meat the people ate at that time,i mean heavy stuff reading that book, cant come up with the title, but i had no meat for 10 days after reading it-hihi, the butchesr where able to sell the meat to the lower classe and so on. anyway back to your story-sorry i was flying away here, great work brother, love them doing laundry. scenery is well done with the lights.5++.

Very cool story I can relate...had to teach the kids how to do laundry for a few reasons, other than they needed to learn, but they kept trying to help me out where I've got my hands full with Justin...some items got washed, going in one color and coming out another...they didn't touch my Clorox thankfully. lol Great story and image Mike!! :-)

Nice render and interesting conversation they are having. In older times Kings and Queens didn't bathe much, they just put on a lot of powder to cover the smell I guess. Glad we use soap and water today.
