The morbid joke was well known by all Midshipmen at the Academy..

Ensign Jayna, nerves already on hyper drive from her assigned duty of guarding the Captain, wasn't going to allow herself to be phaser fodder on this EVA ....

LOL The hapless lieutenant's left arm looks as if its poking through her left boob due to a transporter "glitch".

Actually... Her bra and panties got "deleted" in the transporter buffer subroutine (Scotty's idea of a joke !) Starfleet didn't appropiate much budget on the female uni's and the anti grav in the Tranporter Room is under maintenance so her "girls" are a bit unrestrained Thus the cross arm pose
