Description

Captured 5/6/09, very early in the morning, about .75 miles/1.207 kilometers from my semidomesticated domicile. Ever since CavalierLady posted her Pink Evening Primrose on 4/1/09, I've been scouring the neighborhoods for the species, which I know I had seen somewhere, but couldn't remember the exact locale. In contrast, plenty of roses, hibiscus, agrapanthus and other types around here, but the primrose is a rarity. Anyway, after over a month of searching, I finally came upon the elusive flower, growing liberally in a garden on a front lawn not too far from where I live, and proceeded to aim, compose and click away. A ZOOM would be most advantageous. Thankx for the visit, and have a hump day of historic proportions.

I've loved these ever since I was quite a little ratbag...and I was overjoyed to discover the mass plantings in the SF bay area along the roadsides of the 680 freeway. Beautiful light in these wonderful captures of the paper-thin petals and spiky stamen/pistil structures, Harry!

Oh Harry, these are lovely shots! They bloom by the millions along our roadsides and fields, thanks to the project of Lady Bird Johnson to beautify the highways. These are lovely shots and povs you have gotten... bravo for the effort to find them!
