Oooh I loved the trip up the A9 to Wick. Helmsdale fascinated me .. I wanted to go back and explore. I will oneday. Thanks for the reminder!.

Helmsdale always reminds me of a catastrophic wheel collapse whilst travelling by push bike from Inverness to Thurso and of the kindness of a lorry driver who took myself and my friends all the way to Thurso. Also of the gentleman at the bike shot who repaired the wheel very skillfully for no charge simply beause he was so glad to see some genuine cyclists coming by before spending a memorable fortnight in Orkney. Lovely country, lovely people!!

What a pretty little village. What color in the slopes! Fascinating to consder that when one is atop the hills, any trace of human habitation disappears.
