Description
Simi Valley, California
Taken this past February on a visit back home to see my Dad. When people here in Tennessee find out I am from California one of their first questions is what part and I usually say about 45 miles north of Los Angeles and judging from this photo I am pretty right on... hope you enjoy! Would love to challenge everyone to show their 'hometown'
Thanks so much for your interest and support of my photos...

Ahhh, my hometown... a mix of old and new so that no one knows any more which is which. :-) Love this shot. I remember our old hardware store and the drug store with a counter and stools. Great shot.

I like this one! It reminds me very much of a store I used to visit when I was little (shortly after dinosaurs were invented).

I loved this photo when you posted it, and I wondered: If this is less than an hour out of LA, is it as rustic as this beautiful old building suggests? I'd think your hometown would be very suburban, being that close to LA. In any case, it's filled with fine detail, and bathed in a beautiful deep red. I'm sorry you captured it at such a sad time, but it's beautiful to see it. If I had a camera, I'd be happy to post a picture of my birthplace—it's the north side of Chicago, in an old 3 flat, near Eastern European neighborhoods. One day I'll get a cheap little thing, and post some shots myself. Then you can come to my gallery and make jokes about me for a change, lol...Nice capture of an old dignified place. I hope your return visits are much more joyful.
