Description
Captured 4/20/09, very early in the morning, on a sidewalk adjacent to a school fence about .50 miles/.805 kilometers from my lackadaisical lair.
I couldn't figure where the undulating shadow was coming from at first, but after some investigation, was startled to see the source was a relatively insignificant metal rod, located about two inches or so above the ground, running horizontally for an entire block. There was nothing else apparent to create a shadow like that.
So what's the big deal? Merely that the rod is no wider than 1/8 inch/3.18 millimeters in diameter, which by anyone's standards, is quite narrow.
The fact that the shadow is undulating to such a large degree is because the rod provides bottom support for a chain link fence that has been kicked, climbed over, leaned against, pushed, pulled and twisted over the years by both feral and nonferal youths doing what they normally do, and balls of various shapes and sizes hitting it.
Anyway, nothing like early morning and late afternoon sun for keen and bizarre light and shadow effects.
Thankx for popping in, and have a frenetic Friday.

I see the wire or rod interlaceed through the bottom-most chain links in your photos. Very unique efect...one you wouldn't expect. So, your eye for these things are as good or better than ever! Cool.

Wow, it reminds me of the lines on an EKG or a seismograph during an earthquake...unusual pattern spotted by your keen eyes! Great work, detective Harry!
