Description

The Bateleur Eagle (Terathopius ecaudatus) has the greatest colour variations of any Bird of prey they remain in this type of colour for a number of years before they change to almost black feathers and Red mask. And hence they have been given a variety of names like Serpent eagle etc. The head and colour during this stage has also given them the name of the Pine Cone Eagle.. Thanks as always for taking time to view and any comments etc you care to make

He seems to have flat cheeks! How lovely and I can see the pinecone pattern in the feathers - very broad, scalloped feathers on that neck. Wonderful shot.
