Description

I posted an image of a bullfrog just 6 days ago. It was taken on an overcast day with my 55-200mm lens at the 200m end and using auto settings. The frog was a mature male about 6" long from nose to butt and he was maybe 15' from me. This image was taken with the same camera from about the same distance. The frog this time was a young one and only about 3" long. The day was bright and sunny. I used manual settings with this image - shutter: 1/160sec, F8.0, ISO 200, spot metering, manual exposure and the flash. It is only my 2nd usable image with the 200mm lens. I am having a hard time finding the right working distance for the size of the subject when I try to get a shot. So I have decided I will get better acquainted with the 18-55mm before I worry to much about the 55-200mm. I did also manage to borrow a Nikon 105mm macro lens but I have had absolutely no success with it so far either. I keep fighting DOF and camera shake problems with it. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

You can get a reversing ring for your 18-55mm lens Lee they are not very expensive on ebay and you might like to play around using that method. This is still an excellent shot from 15', and a lot of people would be very proud to have taken it. Sometimes I think you are over critical of yourself, especially as you are on a learning curve. Fantastic reflection. Bravo!!!!!

I love the reflections. Looks like he is sitting on a crocodiles back... I think, on using a macro or the 200mm you should use a tripod - there are great macro-tripods but they are very expensive ;-) Thank you so much for the bigger version of the dasher - a fine shot.
