Description
This life boat was on a trailer being pushed into the sea by a tractor. On one of the many practice runs.
Staithes is a peaceful fishing village about 11 miles north of Whitby, it was once a busy sea port with large fishing fleets and tales of pirates and smugglers. In 1744 as a teenager Captain James Cook moved to Staithes to work for a local shopkeeper but it was not long before his interests turned towards the sea.

You have to admire the bravery of the RNLI guys. I bet they would be happy if all their call-outs were only practices. Excellent photo.

I cannot remember the last time I visited Staithes and saw the tide high enough up for the lifeboat to float without assistance. Super capture.
