Description
A Balrog and a contingent of orcs ambushed the Glorfindel's company. Glorfindel there accomplished his greatest deed, for he saved the lives of Tuor, Idril, and all the company when he defied the Balrog. They fought long. According to The Fall of Gondolin Glorfindel stabbed it in the belly, but as the Balrog fell it reached out and grabbed his long shining hair, pulling him back down over the edge of the cliff. He perished in the fall, but his body was borne up by Thorondor, and buried him with a mound of stones in the pass. On that mound grew the yellow flowers, Celandine.

I'm sorry not more took the time to comment, perhaps they aren't familiar with Tolkiens other works. This is an awesome representation of Glorfindel and the Balrog. Amazing scene, I'm glad you persist to share your perspective...I'm also glad I read the books to know what you refer to. Thank you for sharing this with us, I readily look forward to more.

This is a wonderful depiction of SUCH a noble elf giving his life that others may live. The Fall of Gondolin was SO tragic. I recall in reading Tolkien's writings how stunningly beautiful the city was...what a waste of life and beauty....
