Description

Ancient folding camera bought second-hand, fitted with a tessar lens, and using black & white film stock. This is based on a very old photograph taken during my first independent holiday. Time hadn't treated it kindly, and the sky was a monotonous white so we tried a little jiggery pokey and lo! colour results. Some was added-removed in Painter using tablet and pen, the broader effect comes from playing madly with various effects. The eventual image was also carefully cropped. I suppose it just about justifies a continued categorisation as a photograph, though it might equally be termed a mixed-medium image (I don't own Photoshop, and Painter serves as my substitute). On balance, I'd say the result is more informative for photographers???? Conway, built between 1283 and 1287 during the reign of Edward I, was one of a group of fortresses intended to secure the conquest of North Wales. It is a magnificent ruin, as is nearby Caernarfon Castle. Cliff.
