Description

Whitby harbour is situated at the mouth of the River Esk, with a total area of about 80 acres. The arms of the entrance piers extend out to sea in a northerly direction leaving the entrance exposed to strong winds from north west through north to north east and sheltered from other directions. The width between the entrance piers is about 180 ft. The 700 ft. x 60 ft. Fish Quay was built in 1957 in the lower harbour, complete with fish shed and offices for the sale and landing of fish by auction, with the addition of the ice plant in 1965 Thank you for looking, as always any comments or suggestions welcome 8~) Quite a bit of postwork done here to give the photo a dreamy romantic look. ** BEST VIEWED FULLSIZE ** Thank you for the comments on my last upload thumb_1886295.jpg

In this case I really like the unusual coloring and the sharp focus throughout the depth of field. Going into favorites.

Excellent capture and postwork David, I have walked to the very ends of both arms and fished from the lower decks as well. Our last visit there by coach did not leave me enough time to explore as I wanted. Superb image. Bravo!!!!!5++++ Fav
