Description

When Millard Du Pomperoy took a stage he really struck a chord with his audience. Playing all up and down the migration routes for nearly 20 years, Millard later fell in love with a cute little decoy he met and settled down happily ever after somewhere in Georgia. *** Remodeled an old guitar mesh into a 1910 Gibson harpguitar. I can still remember going to the original Gibson factory as a teenager, when I lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It was about 1968 and Gibson was still a relatively small but famous company. The rock era would make them huge and they moved to Nashville. I saw their museum with all these incredible original instruments by Orville Gibson from the first years of the 20th Century. Most of these harpguitars have a black body, but that doesn't do much in a render, so I improvised. edit: A few have asked what a harpguitar sounds like. Here's a youtube video of the great and late Michael Hedges playing a Dyer Harpguitar. Similar sound, same principal, probably more resonant Harpguitar

LOL..as a dude who once played in a band called "Jerimiah Puddleduck", this one gave me a chuckle. And further to that, my partner in that duo played a 1909 Gibson converted from Bass Mandolin to Guitar. It, as most of Orville's guitars of that period, had a carved top which you must have forgotten about over the years since...a bump map would fix that nicely..cool image for all that.. ...

Don't think I've ever seen a guitar like that, very interesting. Neat render, the name you gave him cracked me up.

I've heard of 'em and seen illustrations or pictures of 'em, but never have I actually seen one. Curious as to how they sound.

Thank you for the link, I was very interested in hearing the sounds this strange guitar would make. Your imaginative work never fails to amuse [=
