In some science situations, the act of observing something changes the subject of the observation. Here is an example suggestive of the science of psychology, known as Observer effect: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Observer_effect_(psychology) The subject of the observation appeared to be showing "Stereotype threat." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stereotype_threat)
