Description

"Asatho maa sath gamaya Thamaso maa jyothir gamaya Mruthyor maa amruth gamaya " (Brihadaranayakam 1:3,28) "Lead me from the UNTRUTH to TRUTH. Lead me from the DARKNESS to LIGHT. Lead me from the DEATH to IMMORTALITY" This tree 'Flame of the forest' decorates the 'Leo XIII School' established in 1888 by Jesuits where I took my preliminary studies.I had no idea what subject I'm going to write here. it was while doing some post work, my attention fall on a book infront me. I simply turned the pages and this hymn was there. It was only when I reached almost at the end of the work that I remember, it was here under this tree I first heard and learned by heart this very hymn at the age of eight or nine. I think this is the only hymn from the ancient scriptures of India, that all most all Indians knows. This Sanskrit hymn as old as 2500 BC or even before that was evolved from the banks of Kubha (Afganistan) has been chanted by sages and hermits of India throughout the ages. Our ancestors then migrated across the river Indus and the people who lived across the river Indus became to known as Hindus. Let me come to the point. I shall copy it from the same book. There is a befitting parallel to this eternal prayer of ancient India, word by word, in the Holy Bible in the words of Jesus Christ. In 14: 6 John, Jesus says "I am the way, and the truth and the life." In 8:12 John, Jesus said " I am the light of the world." Again in John 8;15. Jesus said "Whoever obeys my teaching will never die." Can anybody dismiss this affinity in essence as mere coincidence?"

An inspiring shot with inspiring words. There is much to think about here. The words are reflective of so many religious beliefs...makes you think that perhaps, all are connected in some way. Beautiful image. Breathtaking.

This tree is so aptly named. It is a beautiful flame of color. Wonderful composition, hymn and postwork. There is a great need in man to know God. Truth is found in all religions as man explores that need. The basics of man's different religions are very much the same. It is a shame this is not celebrated, rather than the differences fought over. Jesus taught love and peace. I wish we could follow his teaching. Excellent hymn and image
