Description

Well, here I come again. After a really long time away from the 3D art world and selling the rights to all of my products to my wonderful business partners and friends at VanishingPoint.biz, I decided to rebuild from the ground up. This is the first project while I rebuild the website. This is SpiderBot_Xero. The overall design will be robotic and militaristic in nature with a hint of steam punk. The overall final product will most likely be in multiple formats, Poser, Rhino build format and then be used in a short animation. The new direction of Xero-Web.net is as it was before in regards to 3D artwork but we're also going to be doing movies. Mostly fan films for WoW and other video games, but later on move into our own. This is the first project to reacquaint myself with Rhino 3D and then back into Maya, PhotoImpact, etc. Good times, right? Nothing like relearning to walk while being chased LOL. Hope you like, if you have any pictures of spider robots, please feel free to direct me or email em over to me, I could use some more project base files. Thanks in advance and thanks for any feedback, negative or otherwise on this project.

Looking good so far. Only thing that comes to mind right now is the end - maybe something that's smaller and doesn't resemble part of a bakchoe? I'll send a couple links your way when I find them again - they're in my previous set of favorites, which is still mostly unorganized. Or pics, if I can remember what folder they're in.

something more flat maybe? my first thought was that the claw-like nature may help it dig into surfaces to climb. but i am open to suggestions :D

Reduce the space between the front and back ridges. Make them leaner but longer. Look at a spiders form Delicate but strong... The tip is ok as its claw-like points will allow for the climbing ability you wish, and would make a deadly spearing weapon up close. Longer limbs could even allow it some type of jumping ability... Just off the top of my head. Hope it helps.

Always great to see your latest work! :-) I am not knowledgeable enough about spiders or streampunk to be able to offer intelligent comments on your latest WIP but I have great respect for your modeling abilities. Thanks so much for your kind comments on my 3D CGI in general and Deep Space Explorer Aquarius in particular. I am quite glad to have made the switch from TrueSpace to Rhino. Rhino can do so much more, and for a reasonable cost to boot. These days, I am learning Revit Architecture 2009 and SketchUp 7 as I look for a new architectural drafting job. If interested, you can see my architecture work at: www.linkedin.com/in/davidcmueller.
