Description

I have wondered for several years about what species this turtle is. I have a male and female Red-Eared Slider plus at least half a dozen new Red-eared babies in my pond. The adults have been here for 4 or 5 years at least. This turtle has been here for maybe 3 years. The two species never associate with each other. This one stays to itself and actually chases the others if they come to close. This one is also a lot more wary than the Red-ears are. This image provided the best view I have ever had of it. I am really amazed at the size of the hind feet, lol. If anyone knows what species this is, I would really appreciate knowing. I got this shot using the 55-200mm lens at the 200mm end. I was maybe 15-20 foot away. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

A cracking shot Lee and a superb mirror reflection on the water, fantastic clarity and detail. Can't help with the species but those hind feet are something else, I guess all the better to paddle with. Excellent capture and presentation. Bravo!!!!!

Awesome capture Lee. Not a clue about turtles , so cannot help to identify this. You certainly provided plenty of detail for someone who can. Well done!

Outstanding shot - the reflections are great and the dark background let the turtle shine ...
