Description
Its been a while, had no time for painting lately.
In my recent studies of mesopotamian myth I came upon a deity, which is very likely the source for the Tree of Knowledge in Eden.
He was called the Palmtree King, and was mentioned as one of the deities overcome by Ninurta. Later we find him again as Kishkanu, the world tree, which is cut down to make a throne for Inanna. Then he appears again as the Tree of Knowledge in the semitic stories.
The original Palmtree King was probabaly a version of the shamanic tree of life.
I have chosen the sumerian form Kishkanu for the image with the Imdugud bird, who ist the bringer of wisdom, and the Lamashtu (Lilith) Snake, who is the guide of the souls in the underworld.
I used Poser for the snake and lilies, parts of at least 10 photographs and a lot of paintig in PS for this one.
Thank you for any comments you may leave and for the nice feedback on Infernal Jester.
Have a nice sunday
