Description
AKA "The Bug" this was a popular ride in smaller amusement parks. Most were built in the 1920's at an average cost of $12,500. There are four known standing. Three are operational and are located at Conneaut Lake Park and Kennywood Park in Pennsylvania and another at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in the UK. The ride pictured is from the defunct Chippewa Lake Park and is awaiting sale or scrap. You can see what used to be the roller coaster entrance in the distance.

Very nice. Like the others I think you selective coloring makes this image more powerful. Great work.

The ghost of amusement rides past.....I can just imagine risking life and limb as a kid just for one ride.

Definitely a lovely find and presentation! Something we can look at and admire, and even compare somewhat to how far we've come "ride" wise as well, when we think of somewhere like Canada's Wonderland--and all their "mind-busting" rollercoasters! I have to wonder how safe that would be, according to standards of today.... Love what you've done here with the play of colours, emphasizing these tiny "holders" or bugs, if you will :) So glad you showed this to us, really makes one think... and now I think I'd like to sit in one of these bugs and take a ride... far far away! :)

I like tofi's comment as much as I do the main subject photograph. Both are well presented!

How interesting!

I like the effect of the color against the black and white. For those of us who loved that ride as children, (Euclid Beach, Cleveland, OH for me) it is a happy/sad picture.
