Description

I escaped the crowds to experience the serene beauty of this impressive monastic site, in the middle of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Rievaulx Abbey was founded by St Bernard of Clairvaux in 1132 and became one of England’s wealthiest monasteries before its dissolution by King Henry VIII in 1538. Thank you for looking, as always any comments or suggestions welcome 8~) ** BEST VIEWED FULLSIZE ** Thank you for the comments on my last upload thumb_1888805.jpg

A beautiful historic place in what must be an exquisite area. Like the way you've got this framed by the budding trees. Henry VIII was very tough on these places wasn't he! Very nice scenic-scape.
