Description
Castle Neuschwanstein near Fussen (Bavaria, Germany), the same castle that was in several movies, including The Great Escape, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Space Balls and The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm. Created over a century ago, this castle employed most of the people in the region for over a dozen years. I started up the mountain behind it to get better photos and eventually climbed 3.5 hours to get to the very top! This photo was taken only about 1/2 hour up the mountain, on a bridge behind it. Hope that you enjoy! B-)

I am familiar with this gorgeous monument, but it is sad that the renovation scaffolding and the canvas covers are hiding the real beauty of the castle from view.

I agree... I was a little (just a little) disappointed when I saw that, but I understand... I would rather have that vs. having the castle fall into disrepair... still, it was fanstastic being there and seeing it first hand... another human-made marvel I can check off my list as "been there, done that."... B-)
