Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I love that sign. Every time we go there, I laugh. There is another spot where you can see a car in the lava too. Isn't Hawaii an awesome place.... Great shots. Aloha

Interesting to see how the lava stopped in two of the pics above right at the edge of the highway. Nicely done.

Yeah, that lava just seems to creep along like a giant blob consuming everything in its path. You've gotten some awesome captures while over there.

This is what I'm talkin' about! We think we are the superior race and yet, nature is quick to let us know that whatever we do, she can undo on a whim. How exciting this is!

Detour, there's a muddy road ahead, Detour, pay no attention to what's said... Interesting photos in this collage of awesome onyx, M!

Impressive. That's the friendlier kind of lava: I don't know how to spell it, but the Polynesian word for it sounds like pahoiihoii which is the smoother, friendlier lava, as opposed to a'a which is the rougher kind. Apparently "a'a" is the sound you make when it hardens and cools and you walk over it with bare feet. Anyway, enough of that. This is a great series of shots and you really get a sense of its scale. Great work, I wish I could see that for myself...I have kind of a thing for lava, and during my childhood, I thought Chicago was overrated because there were no active, lava-spewing volcanoes in the area. This brings back those memories and that's a good thing.

Awesome collage. I bet that is a "must see for yourself" place.
