Description

To continue the 1940's series Thanks for dropping by...I've not had much time to get on here as often as I like, I have been out somewhere almost every day and have a backlog of photo's (hundreds lol) in my camera which I have yet to upload to my computer and to pick out the better ones for a bit of P/Shop tweaking etc.... my head overloads and I come to a standstill lol..but the sun is shining and life is good.

Love the picture. His backpack kit is worn non-reg, but that adds all the more flavor. My only gripe, small that it is: the green backing to the state eagle on his chest is too verdant. It should be darker, more in tune with his uniform. This one stands out too much. I have known people in the collecting community (not just WWII), and have seen thousands (literally) of original German WWII eagles on and off uniforms. I speak from experience. One can always say it was a dye-lot exception, though. I do really like his litzen with the waffenfarbe on his collar. (The "pillars" and in them, the white stripe of Infantry. Look close. It's early war. Later, they ommitted the branch color in favor of generic litzen.)

Was this the one where he was fastening his boot laces?? Excellent portrait Alan, the people that do dress the part try to be as authentic as possible, I guess they don't know which year the uniform changed. Plus these things are getting harder and harder to find. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!
