Description

The idea for this image started when I noticed that everyone had really spiffy avatars, while mine was kinda, well..."lame" as my son would say. The next step was finding Merlin's cool helmet package one day when I was surfing the galleries. Then came the long, painful process of finding armor that was cool looking, yet still was appropriate for a great helm. One of my pet peeves is seeing a great helm from the 1100's or so matched up with a set of Gothic plate from the 1400's. Might as well give 'em a set of revolvers from the West... Lourdes Norman outfit and Tabbycat's tunic mats gave me a good start (even though I retextured the tabard, I used Tabbycat's mat as a starting point.) Although this was an incredibly frustrating experience, I learned a lot along the way. Firstly and most importantly...AS GOD IS MY WITNESS, I'LL NEVER DO A HORSE RENDER AGAIN... What a pain! M3 apparently has legs too short to reach the stirrups, while simultaneously having arms too long for the reins. I also figured a workaround for adding multiple textures in Vue to an object that only has one material. So,here it is, painfully posed and extensively retextured. I haven't changed my avatar yet, because I'm not quite happy with it yet (maybe it'll grow on me) I would certainly welcome any suggestions.

Well, it looks awesome so all the hard work you put into the image was worth it...even the horse...:-) Great job!

Great image, the effort on the textured was definitely worth it. For your avatar you might consider a 3/4 angle, in this image the helmet is straight on to the camera which flattens it a bit for me
