Ah! The more illuminated gelatine shows light caustics around it. What is also interesting is the use of toon characters but rendering technique using radiosity/global illumination - like the guys at pixar and dreamworks- so the end result is quite realistic from a lighting and shading perspective- this is very cool! I dont know much about Carrara, but if it supports sub surface scattering - that might be something cool to play with and would show slight translucency through the ears.

I meant to comment on this one sooo long ago... There's a quality to it that I can't put my finger on, but it's a style and clarity to the rendering that makes me think of some of the animated movies I love. Top notch. -Les
